For the summer season, the French Agency for the Safety of Health Products (AFSSAPS) reissued its selection guide on good sunscreen to adopt. Bronzer is good, safe tan is better.
Whatever the destination of your holiday, you hope that the sun will be part and come back with a golden tan to rival an Australian surfer. So, it is essential to choose the right sunscreen protection before basking in the sun.
4 protection levels
If the sun is essential to life, abuse can be extremely dangerous and cause skin damage, eye burns or skin cancer.
Afssaps (the French Agency for Safety of Health Products) participated in September 2006 in the development of European guidelines for prevention. The aim was to take stock of sunscreens and protective indices.
The old 4 protection levels were updated. Manufacturers already postponing changes to their products to provide consumers with clearer information.
The levels are:
– Low protection (sun protection factors 6 or10)
– Protection Average (indices 15, 20 or 25)
– High protection (indices 30 or 50)
– Very High (50+ index)
In any case, to determine the level of protection you need, you have to consider your skin type and the level of sunshine to your destination.
Your skin type
Extremely sensitive skin
If you have very white skin and / or freckles, or if you’re red, you need to be very vigilant with your skin. The ideal regarding you is not to over expose, since in any case your tanning sessions will unfortunately bring you from sunburn.
If you have fair skin or if you are blonde, go for high protection factors in order to tan safely.
Although sunburn is common for you to index + 50 strength and thoughtful exhibition you manage to get a slight hale. Beware of UV rays!
You are part of the lucky ones who can expose carefree (making but be careful). For you not to burn or sunburn, but a nice golden tan. The average index protections are perfect for you.
For you, with minimal protection, the sun is more a friend than an enemy. Have dark skin, but nothing prevents you to expose yourself under the sun-lights, just to caramelize your tan. The goal? A golden skin chewable.
The sunshine level
If you go to the tropics or the discovery of the great glaciers bring along sunscreen very high protection. You risk serious burns and the consequences for your health.
You decided to spend your holiday in the seaside loaf (or lake), your level of protection must be high enough to avoid bad inconvenience. Also think of a cream with an SPF 30 or 50 if you go on long walk during the day.
Design your holiday, not to spend hours lying in the sun. You prefer to discover your place of residence and are not a fan of intensive sunbathing. You spend your holidays in the open air and that is enough to make colors.
One last thing: your sunscreen alone is not enough to protect your skin from the effects of the sun. To avoid premature aging or cancer risk, you should not expose yourself during the hottest hours (ente 10h and 16 h).
Brush your cream before exposure, and several times a day. And as soon as you bathe, you must repeat the operation is the only way to get the best results from your treatment.
