Dark hair areas in the places where many usually have it, such as lip, chin, chest, stomach or neck, can with women mean only one thing – hormonal imbalance.
You can see a lot of women who have brighter hair color than their eyebrows or the stray hairs on the lip or chin. This doesn’t mean they all dye their hair; it can be a sign of a hormonal imbalance. Some women have a lot more testosterone, and the others are just extra sensitive, so even normal level of hormones can cause the hair growth. In a combination with irregular periods and acne breakout, this all leads to a hormonal imbalance.
“If women develop dark hair in areas where men typically have it—lip, chin, neck, stomach, chest—there may be a hormonal imbalance,” says Zeichner. “In some cases there may a testosterone excess, but in others, women may just be extra-sensitive to what appears to be a normal level of hormones.” Other indications of imbalance include irregular periods and acne breakouts.
So, if you have any of these signs, you should go to a doctor and get it checked out. Hormonal irregularity can be more than just facial hair growth; it can be associated with obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes and fertility. But, all of this doesn’t have to be scary, because with common treatment all of the symptoms and be reduced and your estrogen level rebalanced once again. All you need to do is go to your doctor.
Hair growth on is normal thing, especially if your skin tone is deep and you have dark hair, but if you feel anything suspicious, it is better to get one simple blood test than to stay at home and wonder what it could be, right?
