Meat in baby food
 It’s time to talk about  some meat in  baby menus. But which to choose? How to prepare? Our advices.

The introduction of meat in the baby food will optimize iron intake, zinc, and B vitamins However, up to 3 years, portions remain relatively low, since we must give priority to milk diet.

At what age is introduced ?

Experts now recommend introducing new foods, including meat, between 4 and 6 months. Neither before nor after. Numerous scientific studies have shown that this period was more conducive to limit the risk of allergy.

Between 5 months and 7 months.

Mixed with vegetables 2 teaspoons (10 g) of cooked meat without fat, and well mixed. At first, we put everything into the bottle of milk (by reducing the proportion of milk). As soon as the baby wants, eats his meals with a spoon.

We start with lean and digestible meat: chicken breast or turkey (without skin), steak or roast beef, steak or veal roast. If using frozen chopped steak, we choose the 5% fat. It does not exceed the recommended portion, because excess protein unnecessarily overloading the baby back. Avoids offal  except ham whose fat is removed .

Between 7 months and 8 months.

Baby continues to not eat meat, 2-4 teaspoons mixed (10-20 g), only one of his main meal. If he consumes fish or egg, it replaces meat. It may vary with the pig in the net (cutlet, roasted) and leg of lamb.

9 months to 1 year.

The amount of daily meat does not exceed 20 g. Gradually, depending on the arrival of teeth, the meat is served chopped or in small pieces.

Between 1 and 3 years.

Baby continues to not eat meat only once a day, 20 g to 1 year, 30 g 2 years, 40 to 50 g to 3 years. The portion is small to limit protein intake, which easily exceed the recommended intake. Even if the causal link is not fully demonstrated, it was observed that children who consume too much protein before the age of 3 years have a greater risk of developing obesity. Sausage, too fat, too salty, remains discouraged. Baby can eat 1 to week a shade high in iron such as liver.

Meat home or small pots?

Both can be toggled, that is best for the education of taste, not to accustom baby to one type of preparation. . They are cooked without fat, steamed or in a nonstick pan.

What if my child is allergic ?
