Vegetarian diet for burning weight

The vegetarian diet is effective for weight loss
The vegetarian diet allow you to lose more weight that any other diets that admit certain animal products.

It often becomes vegan conviction, to protect and respect animal life, but we could also opt for this diet to lose weight. According to a study from the University of South Carolina, published in International Journal of Applied and Basic Nutritional Sciences, the easier it would lose weight by eliminating all animal products (meat, eggs, fish and dairy products) from its diet.

There are many diets that emphasize a power plant: the vegan diet that excludes all animal products, the vegetarian diet (no meat or fish but with animal products such as cheese), the Pesco-vegetarian diet (no meat but fish), semi-vegetarian diet (with occasional contributions in meat).

In this article, the researchers compared the effectiveness of four diets based on plant products for weight loss. The participants were overweight adults who were between 18 and 65. They were divided into 5 groups according to the diet to follow: vegan (12 people), Vegetarian (13 people), Pesco-vegetarian (13 people), semi-vegetarian (13 people) or omnivores (12 people). 50 participants, or 79%, were at the end of the study. They followed their diet for six months and participated in meetings each week, except omnivores who had appointments monthly.

Results: those who followed the vegetarian diet lost the most weight at 2 and 6 months. After six months, the weight loss of the vegetarian diet group (-7.5 kg) was significantly different from that of omnivores (-3.1 kg), semi-vegetarians (-3.2 kg) and Pesco-vegetarian diet ( -3.2 kg).

The vegetarian diet might contain a lot of carbohydrates, yet often unsuitable in dieting. Therefore, for the principal author, Gabrielle Turner-McGrievy, “this study could ease the fears of those who like pasta, rice and other grains, but want to lose weight. “Rather than avoiding carbohydrates, it is also possible to choose better, favoring those who have a low glycemic index(vegetarian diet).

Weight loss was not the only positive result for vegetarian diet: they also lost more fat and saturated fat at 2 and 6 months(vegetarian diet).

Ultimately, the eviction of animal products, including fish, seems particularly effective for weight loss over six months, which may surprise, the author first: “I was personally surprised that the group pesco- Vegetarian does not pulling better for weight loss. In the end, their loss was not different than that of semi-vegetarians or omnivores groups(vegetarian diet).
