What is hollywood diet ?

The “Hollywood diet” or “fruit diet” comes down to consume only fruit for a week. An obvious result on the scale but also on health, as this scheme could lead to deficiencies.

We also call this method the “Fruit Scheme” and it has many variants (pineapple diet, grape cure …). Its adoption by some Hollywood actresses back to the 1980s, but it had its heyday in the early 1990s with the publication of a book written by Mazel July. This book details the method and simply titled “Hollywood diet” (last in French reissue in 2006 at Solar).

Principle of the Hollywood diet

The Hollywood diet in practice

So this is the almost exclusive consumption of fruit, and here is a sample week of the Hollywood diet: 1 day, from morning to night pineapple (fruit every 2 hours); Day 2, papaya or apples in the morning, midday pineapples, apples or mangoes in the evening; 3rd day, apples and kiwi fruit in the morning, midday pineapple, apples and kiwis at night; 4th day, watermelon or raspberry; 5th day, watermelons morning, noon apricots, blueberries and cassis in the evening; 6th day, prunes in the morning, midday pineapples, watermelons evening; 7th day, watermelons or apples from morning to evening (fruit every 2 hours).

Then the following week, think reintroduce vegetables, bread and starchy foods to accustom the body to a more balanced diet, not to mention fish, dairy products and white meat the following week.

Effectiveness of the Hollywood diet

If effectiveness is measured by the figure drop quickly on the person weighs, then yes, this diet is quite effective for weight loss is dramatic first week. But health, it can quickly be disastrous!

Advantages and disadvantages of the Hollywood diet

Advantages: Since the only imperative is to consume fruit and nothing but fruit, the Hollywood diet is simple to follow. By sharply reducing the consumption of meat and other processed foods, is caused in the body a purifying effect, that is to say that one “scoured” the body.

Cons: There are many, because this regime is not based on scientific fact and patient participation is zero.
