A lot of people have been asking this question lately on beauty forums and blogs alike: what is strobing? In short, strobing is the rival of contouring. It’s faster and easier.
It’s basically contouring for the lazy girl (which most of us are!). No offense to anyone, but I just don’t have the time to contour and even if I did, it looks way too unnatural and just plain weird! Enter strobing: your new favorite makeup trend!
Strobing focuses only on highlighting the parts of your face where light would naturally hit your face. These include cheekbones, brow bones, the center of your forehead, chin, and down the length of the nose. Applying a highlighter or an illuminator to these parts of your face will give you a beautiful, natural glow. Best of all, it won’t feel like you’re wearing ten pounds of makeup!
Strobing is so easy that anyone can do it! Do your makeup as you usually would (concealer, foundation, and powder), and then grab a highlighter (I like L’Oreal’s Magic Lumi which they claim is a primer, but it’s super shimmery and works AMAZING as a highlighter).
Next, dot a tiny amount of said highlighter to your cheekbones, the center of your forehead, down the length of your nose, the ceneter of your shin, and onto your brown bones. Dab the highlighter to blend by lightly tapping your fingers against your skin until well blended or use a beauty blender.
And there you have it! Strobing is so much easier than contouring, and looks a lot better! Try it out for yourself and see the difference a little highlighter can make!
